How To Transition Summer Dressing To Fall (without breaking your bank account)

Happy Wednesday!  Already the third day of September, time flies doesn't it?  So unofficially its Fall and time to put the Summer clothes away and start dressing for the new season.  California hasn't gotten the memo that its time for the seasons to change.  103 degrees yesterday and triple digits for at least another week.  So what do you do when the calendar says Fall but the temperature still says Summer?  You dress accordingly and with a few simple tweaks you can transition your summer wardrobe into an early Fall wardrobe.  Here are a few ways to stay cool and still be seasonably fashionable

1.  High-Low Skirts
You can wear your high-low skirts well into Fall by just switching cute summer sandals or wedges to booties instead.  Pair with a simple tee while the weather is still warm as it cools off switch to a long sleeved tee or light sweater.  This works with maxi skirts as well, and maxis can also last into early winter with a heavier sweater and boots.
2. Add a Scarf
Adding a scarf to a tee and jeans, or a short sleeved blouse and slacks gives your outfit a look of Fall.  Try a plain white tee, jeans and flats.  Cute, casual and season appropriate.
3. Summer Tote
You can extend use of a cute Summer tote like the one below by tying a cute Autumn colored scarf around the straps to make it Fall appropriate.

 4. White Blouse
A plain white blouse is a staple every woman should own.  It can be worn during any season and is a perfect transition piece for Summer to Fall.  Pair it with jeans, a skirt, dress slacks, flats, heels, literally anything.
5. Cardigan
A cardigan is an excellent transition piece.  Especially on those days when its warm during the day but cools off at night.  A cardigan like the white blouse is a staple for all seasons and can be worn with just about anything.  Neutral colors are great, but bright makes things more fun.  Either way a great way to transition to cooler weather.
6. Summer Dresses and Tights
Summer dresses are an easy way to transition to Fall.  Just pair them with a cardigan like the ones above and tights and you're good to go.  You can wear flats, booties or kitten heels or even boots.

Another good transitional piece is the body con skirt.  Early Fall tights and flats, transition to Winter with a big sweater, tights and boots.
7. Jeans and Leggings
Jeans and leggings literally can be worn all year round.  Early Fall pair with tee, oversized tee, or a blouse.
As it gets colder oversized sweaters or sweatshirts are perfect.  Colored skinnys are also great all year round and brighten things up a bit as well.
