Making Time For Beauty on a Tight Schedule (and wallet)

Hello Lovelies!  I'm sorry I've been gone for awhile.  Classes have started and tons of homework and trying to get into a routine have thrown me off a little bit.  Adding work to the mix is going to be oh so fun.  So how do you keep up a beauty routine when your schedule is tight and your budget is even tighter?  Actually its not that hard.  We all get overwhelmed with work, school, family and everything else that we deal with on a daily basis.  Probably the last thing on your mind at the end of a busy day is taking off your makeup or even washing your face at all for that matter.  But believe me, you do not want to neglect your skin.  Everything you do now will show up when you're older, so getting into a routine now will definitely pay off later.  After awhile it will become less of a chore and become as much a part of your day as showering and applying makeup.  So what I recommend is to get in the habit of cleansing your face first thing in the morning and again before you go to bed.  Wash, tone, moisturize.  Easy.  Now, you just need to find the right product that works for you.  You don't need to spend a lot of money to get good results.  The main thing is to know your skin type and then hit the drugstore.  You can find excellent and affordable products at any CVS, Rite Aid or Walgreens.  And if you really want to save money Wal Mart and Target both have the same products usually at a lower price.  CVS also has a beauty club, for every fifty dollars you spend on cosmetics, (including hair color, body wash and shampoo).  Every skin type has different needs, but the basics are still, cleanse tone and moisturize.  For acne prone skin Neutrogena has a few good lines that take the guesswork out of buying. The Pink Grapefruit Line is 100% grapefruit extract with vitamin c and salycic acid. Gentle microbeads smooth away roughness without over drying.  This line also has a body wash. Prices range from $7.50 to $8.50 each.

For oily or combination skin Olay offers Fresh Effects.  For deep cleansing and hydrating this line is perfect for a busy fashionista.  It includes an exfoilating cleanser and minimizing cleanser, a toner,  moisturizer and BB cream.  The minimizing cleanser includes a cleansing brush for deeper cleaning.  Prices range from $12.99 to $13.99 each.

For normal skin Neutrogena offers their Healthy Skin line.  I really like this line because it offers something for everyone.  Cleanser, toner, a choice of moisturizers.  If you suffer from acne but don't want to use drying acne products, this line has a moisturizer with acne medicine in it.  It works too, I've used it.  All moisturizers contain sunscreen, and they have a men' line as well.  Prices range from $12.99 to $14.99.

For dry skin, Olay offers several options.  The Total Effects line offers cleansers, moisturizers eye creams and firming cream for night time use.  The cleansers are great and range from some moisturizing to a cleanser for people with dry or normal skin who are also prone to breakouts.  I've tried this and their moisturizer and they do work.  All contain sunscreen and are comparable in price to the Neutrogena lines.  The Regenerist line is a little pricier and a little more complex.  It offers the same types of products as the others, but there are a lot more to choose from.  I would recommend this if your skin is severley dry and you are want an anti aging product as well.  These range from $18 to $34.

For sensitive skin again Neutrogena has the best options, with their One Step Gentle Cleanser, which doubles as a makeup remover, making it extra convenient and their Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser. For dryer skin they offer a hydrating version. Both were created especially for sensitive skin and are alcohol free and hypoallergenic.  They can be used with Neutrogena's Healthy Skin Toner and the Ultra Gentle Oil Free Moisturizer.   Non-irritating and gentle and very affordable.  Prices range from $6.49-$7.49.

These are just some suggestions to help get started on a cleansing routine that works for you.  There are a lot of products out there.  These are some that are easy because they work together and are affordable.  So once you find the one for you get started!  Pretty soon it will just be another part of your day, but your skin will be forever grateful :)
